UFO Challenge
2012 UFO CHALLENGE
Throughout the 2012 year, all Cal-Co Quilt Guild members are
invited to take part in a UFO Challenge. The
UFO’s
need to be projects that were started BEFORE 2011. If you complete the project by the December 2012 guildmeeting, your name will be entered into a drawing for a cash gift of $25. You can enter as many UFO’s as you like,
but you can only win one cash prize. The $25 cash gifts will be awarded to six guild members. You are encouraged
to bring your unfinished work as well as your completed quilt to one of the meetings for “Show and Tell”. The
finished project needs to be completely done (quilted, bound, etc.) to be entered in the drawing.
Quilts for Kids
We received many warm, colorful
and comfy quilts at the May “quilt gathering”. In fact, 52 completed quilts and 7 quilt tops were brought to
the meeting. The Quilts for Kids Committee would like to thank everyone for their generosity. These
wonderful quilts will put a smile on the faces of many children in our
community.
In June, we will be delivering approximately 100 quilts to Inasmuch House and
Also, thank you to the gals who came to our recent “cutting” day. We got most of our scraps cut into squares and strips. Within the next month or two, we will sort and bag the squares/strips and bring them to guild in hopes that many of you will turn them into patchwork quilts for our kids.
We thank all guild members for their continued support of our “Quilts for Kids” project. Have a good summer.

QUILT SHOW
CHALLENGE UPDATE
Here is the book that I found
the House Dress 9" block
in: Better Homes & Gardens
101 Full Size Quilt Blocks &Borders. It is located on pages 148 & 149. I did check
the Krickets Used Book store here in
if they had a copy but they don't at this time. I have not
had time to check with Willard Library for a copy. You
may of course contact me if you would like a copy of the
block.
Please remember, there is no set block or design for the
challenge. The committee would like each quilter to
make a choice in what they will do following the size,
(24" minimum, 36" maximum) and theme (vintage
clothing or accessories) guidelines. You may use
reproduction or original vintage fabrics but do
embellish as that is what makes each work so
special.
The items I have brought to the guild meetings
are examples only of what can be done to
give you ideas. It would be smart to finish a
workshop or any project begun long ago that
fits this challenge AND qualify for the UFO
drawing in December too!
